The redevelopment of a former builders merchants on Queen Street, in the centre of Maidenhead, to provide a total of 50 residential units set within two distinctive contemporary urban buildings.

The block addressing Queen Street rises to 4 storeys and incorporates a large landscaped terrace on the first floor. More than 1,000sqft of retail/ restaurant space is provided at ground floor with 22 residential flats above. The design of this building picks up the scale and rhythm of existing properties in Queen Street with the appearance draws upon the local vernacular. Careful use of dark brickwork paneling combined with glazed circulation cores help to articulate the principle elevation whilst visually separating the horizontal massing of the building.

The building to the rear of the site rises from 3 to 5 storeys and provides 28 residential units set within a communal landscaped walled garden. This sustainable town centre scheme incorporates secure cycle storage and proposes ‘zero car parking’.
